The Paseo del Prado has become the Triangle of Art, do not miss a visit to the three most important museums in Madrid.

THE PRADO MUSEUM

It is one of the largest and most lavish art galleries in the world due to the importance of its pictorial collection. The Prado has been increasing its funds until it has 8,600 paintings and more than 700 sculptures, of which only one seventh is exhibited.

In addition to being one of the best museums in terms of painting from the 16th and 17th centuries and having pieces by artists of the stature of El Bosco, Tiziano, El Greco, Murillo, Rubens, Goya or Velázquez, it houses important art collections decorative, drawings and engravings, less known but of great value.

The opening hours of the museum are from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (including holidays). Closed every Monday, including holidays.

The general ticket price is €8 while the reduced ticket costs €4.

THE REINA SOFÍA ART CENTER

It is the Spanish national museum of 20th century and contemporary art. It is located on Calle Santa Isabel number 52 and was designed by José de Hermosilla and Francesco Sabatini.

Its headquarters are the old General Hospital of Madrid, a spectacular neoclassical building from the 18th century, in the Atocha area. Museum hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; on Sundays it is only open to the public in the morning from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. On Tuesdays the facility is closed.

The price of general admission is €6. Temporary exhibitions can be visited for €3.

THE THYSSEN BORNEMISZA MUSEUM

It is headquartered in a historic building, the Villahermosa Palace, where it houses more than a thousand works. Located on Paseo del Prado number 8, next to the Reina Sofía Museum and the Prado Museum, it forms the world-famous Art Triangle or Paseo del Arte.

In its rooms it houses a valuable private collection gathered by the Thyssen-Bornemisza family over seven decades. This artistic collection provides numerous foreign authors, from Gothic to Pop Art and the 1980s, with works by prestigious authors such as Dürer, Raphael, Caravaggio, Rubens, Rembrandt, Manet, Van Gogh, Kandinsky or Lucian Freud, among many others.

Visiting hours are from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Mondays the center is closed.

The price of general admission is €8. The reduced rate is €5.50.
